Custom Wickerbeast Mask: a realistic creature commission

When a client sends a crystal-clear vision, it’s an honor—and a challenge—to bring it to life. This custom Wickerbeast mask project started with highly detailed reference images. The client knew exactly what they wanted: the shape of the eyes, the horns, the hairline, the teeth, the colors, and even the facial proportions.

Animal-Inspired Design and Texture Work

To create a truly realistic Wickerbeast cosplay mask, I drew inspiration from nature:

  • Bull horns: A specific breed was chosen for its thick, natural curve and texture.
  • Desert lizard scales: To build an authentic layered skin texture along the face and jaw.
  • Mosasaur teeth: Sharp, prehistoric-style teeth added to the mask’s feral expression.

The horns were sculpted separately to allow for a one-piece mold that would integrate the snout and ears seamlessly. The trickiest part? Engineering a secure and invisible attachment system at the base of the horns, ensuring stability while preserving aesthetics.

A true collaboration

This was not a quick build. The process involved extensive back-and-forth with the client, including dozens of photos, videos, and feedback sessions. From eye sockets to jaw contour, every detail was shaped to match the original vision.

The result? A custom resin mask that blurs the line between fantasy creature and believable biology—perfect for cosplay, LARP, or display.

 A custom Hood for full immersion

To complete the transformation, I created a custom fabric hood tailored to the shape of the mask. It covers the back of the head and neck, allowing the mask to blend seamlessly into costumes, robes, or cloaks. The hood is designed for comfort and airflow, especially useful for long wear at conventions or outdoor events.
