Crystals, Crystals, Crystals: Why Light Changes a Costume

Crystals, Crystals, Crystals: Why Light Changes a Costume

Crystals, crystals, crystals!

The difference between the Arcane Crystal and the Reflectvoyance Crystal lies in their purpose: one is designed to be worn, the other to create atmosphere.

In case it wasn’t obvious, I really love crystals and LEDs. They’re those little details that can completely transform a costume — both in daylight and at night — and let’s be honest, having a small light source around is always useful.
But what’s the real difference between these two kinds of pieces?

The Arcane/Root Crystal

This crystal is designed to be worn like a piece of jewelry. It was inspired by the aesthetics of 1990s–2000s comics, anime, and manga. It’s intentionally chunky, with a wide, gleaming surface that catches the eye beautifully.

This piece took countless prototypes to perfect, and the result is one of the most durable and efficient crystals I’ve ever made. The crystal’s flat surface makes it resistant to scratches and drops. The cap — also hand-sculpted — fits snugly onto the crystal, holding the LED and battery compartment inside.

Its unique feature?
The cap doubles as a base, so you can display the crystal or use it as a small bedside light. It’s also perfect for rituals: thanks to its flat bottom, it can stand upright and illuminate the ceremony with its colors.

The batteries are rechargeable and housed in a waterproof container. While it shouldn’t be submerged, rain won’t harm it — I’ve poured half a liter of water on it multiple times, and the batteries stayed perfectly dry and functional.

This crystal is built to last for decades if cared for properly. It can join you on the LARP field, at your D&D table, or during a cozy, nerdy evening. It’s a mid-range piece — not cheap — but absolutely worth its price for both looks and longevity.

The Reflectovoiance Crystal

These crystals are all about efficiency — sturdy, elegant, and surprisingly affordable. Both the crystals and their bases are hand-sculpted, then reproduced by hand using silicone rubber molds. Each crystal’s pigments are hand-mixed, every base is hand-painted, and the moss is carefully applied. The dome is made of plexiglass for safety during LARP games and can be removed or replaced at any time.

They’re designed as ritualist accessories for LARP events, as soft night lights in the woods, or as unique decorations for any nerdy home. They’re perfect for creating atmosphere during tabletop sessions or for photoshoots at conventions or in nature. The handy ring makes them easy to carry or attach to a belt.

The batteries are replaceable, ensuring they can be used for years to come. The resin is highly durable, and rain won’t damage it as long as it’s not stored upside down.

They look best in groups, but even a single one — displayed on a bookshelf — draws attention and adds an aura of mysticism and wonder to any room. They make the perfect Christmas or birthday gift for your nerdy friends — or a little magical treat for yourself!
